My graduate collection is based on an emotional concept I have with a woodland that is located near where I grew up, Hazelwood. The colours and textures play a major importance in the 4 piece line up. I wanted the garments to be tactile, giving potential customers or people who may see it the urge to reach out and want to touch the garments. I designed digital prints from original art pieces that were created using acid dyes and salt that acted as a resist. The prints were then developed in Photoshop; they complimented the overall woodland theme in terms of colours and textures and worked well with the other fabrics I chose for the collection. I wanted the surface quality to be interesting so I manipulated the fabrics and created 3D surfaces that I hope gave the collection another interesting element.

This collection was designed with key words in mind; comfort, protection, security, memories. I developed a story through my design development about a girl moving away from her home town to an urban civilisation while still having that longing feeling of home and the comforts that came with it.  From this I wanted the garments to be a reminder to this person of the feelings she once felt in her special place, I wanted to bring back these feelings again through wearing the clothing, while living her new life away from home.
